Praying at home with The Book of Common Prayer

The Book of Common Prayer is a treasure chest full of devotional and teaching resources for individuals and congregations, and is the practical symbol of our unity in faith and practice as Episcopalians and Anglicans. The prayer book, most recently revised in 1979, contains our liturgies, our prayers, our theological documents, and much, much more.

These videos offer an introduction for praying some of the daily services contained in the Book of Common Prayer.

Daily Devotions for Individuals and Families

This is a short and simple form of the daily office that can be used morning, noon, evening, and night.

Morning Prayer: Rite II

Morning Prayer once was the chief Sunday service in most Anglican churches on three out of four Sundays, the First Sunday usually being a celebration of Holy Communion. Morning Prayer is clearly designated as a daily service for the worship of the church, and reflects the ancient tradition of the Daily Office.

An Order for Compline

Also called Night Prayer, or the Prayers at the End of the Day, Compline is the final church service (or office) of the day in the Christian tradition of praying the hours.
